Born on the Bay Island of Utila, Cecilia attended school in both Utila and La Ceiba as well as Trujillo, Honduras where she studied education. After her studies she returned to Utila to receive her certification in scuba diving and spent the following four years as a dive instructor. A desire to help others led her to Guatemala where she volunteered teaching English to children in San Marcos, Atitlan. She then resumed her vocation as a dive instructor in Cay Caulker, Belize for two years, but her love for the Bay Islands brought her back to Roatan.
It was at her position as reservationist at the Mayan Princess that she met her future husband, American expatriate Gary Chamer. Cecilia spent the next four years as manager of Palmetto Bay Plantation, a master planned eco-sensitive community of vacation rentals and year-round homes. Witnessing the genuine happiness of residents at Palmetto Bay sparked the beginning of a dream for Cecilia, as she envisioned helping others find their perfect island home. "I love Roatan and the Bay Islands," states Cecilia. "The people, the unbelievably warm hospitality, the beautiful beaches and of course, the amazing sunsets."
Today, Cecilia lives with her husband Gary and their daughter Emily on Roatan, and is passionate about her job. She credits her early success with her integrity and tenacity as well as her extensive island knowledge and personal network she has built up over the years.
If you're looking to buy or sell your island home, then Cecilia is committed to being of service for all your real estate needs. Contact her to see how she can help you!
